We had a great turn out for our first School Council meeting of the 2018/19 school year! It’s wonderful to have so many new parents showing an interest in getting involved with WAPS. After getting through the mandatory executive and committee election we had a lively discussion of the principals report on renovation updates, extra-curricular activities, hot lunches and traffic. A more detailed account of this discussion can be found here. We also heard some highlights of the school spending from School Generated Funds.
We continued with a review of the Financial Statement from 2017/18 and a draft of the new school year Budget was presented. We have lots of upcoming events to look forward to such as the back to school picnic and an on-line silent auction in November. On our “chalk it up” we had a brief discussion on the changes in the health curriculum. If there is something that you would like to add to our “chalk it up” at our October 9th council meeting please contact Council by email, Facebook or twitter (@WAPSCouncil).
