At The October School Council Meeting…

There was the approval of the final budget for 2018/19 and  full reports from our different committee leads on all the planned activities and events for the 2018-2019 school year.  There are lots of exciting multicultural, stem-based and healthy living projects planned for all grade levels.  There are also 2 workshops for parents in the works.  We have some fun fundraisers scheduled this year including the upcoming paint nite (for adults only) and new this year an Online Silent Auction.  We are also hoping to have our annual Spring Fling in June but that is in danger of being cancelled as we currently have no volunteers to coordinate this event. The book sale has been moved to February so this simplifies the planning. The ideal would be to have 2 people volunteer to co-lead. There is lots of information and contacts available from previous years. There is a need for commitment by December 1st otherwise we will have to look at cancelling.

The principal had much to report on all the activities, presentations and events occurring this month. There is a fun event that the faculty have planned for Tuesday, October 30th so Save the Date!  There will be a Family Escape Room planned in portables 5 and 6. The theme this year is based on the board game “Clue”.  Families can work through clues to solve the mystery. It will be open from 3:15pm – 6:15pm and families will sign up for a spot. Donation for the food bank as part of Me to We; We Scare Hunger campaign.

For more details on what was discussed at the October School Council meeting please see the minutes posted to our website.

Online Silent Auction – Donations Needed

This year we are hosting an ONLINE Silent Auction as a new fundraising initiative.  It will run from November 5th to November 25th. We’ll be auctioning off gift certificates, services, new merchandise and in-school experiences.  Share in your school community by giving back as a family!  There are many ways that you can help.  Do you have a special skill that you can give a lesson ie. knitting, cake decoration, juggling?  Perhaps you have a gift card or new merchandise that you are willing to donate.  Even the donation of your time with household chores such as dogwalking, snow shovelling and babysitting.  See attached flyer for more ideas.

We are looking for donations from local businesses, community groups and families.  Tax receipts can be issued for items and professional services donated but we cannot provide receipts for gift cards and personal services.  Please contact Nicole Duguay at if you would like to make a donation.  Donations must be received by October 29th to give us time to get them up on the auction website.
